Whether you work with paints, cleaning solutions or other potentially hazardous substances, the law requires a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) label for every chemical product at your workplace. So many requirements and so many acronyms! But it doesn’t take a chemist to understand them.
A new e-course from CCOHS, WHMIS: Understanding MSDSs was designed to be part of a full chemical safety program. The course teaches workers, supervisors and health and safety committee members, how to read and understand MSDSs.
This intermediate level course meets the requirements of provincial and federal regulations in Canada for MSDS training. With the computer with Internet access as the only equipment required, participants can learn at their convenience, at their own pace and in their own environment. This e-course takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.
Learners can ask a CCOHS instructor specific questions that may not have been answered by the course. There are quizzes throughout and a certificate of completion is issued upon passing the exam.
Courses can be purchased for one user or, if four or more people are to be trained, a multi-user license can save money.
Pricing and registration information is available on the CCOHS website.
