Safety Hazards

Information on safety hazards in the OSH Answers site will apply mostly to the physical conditions of the workplace or the way equipment and machinery are used. Safety hazards in this section will deal with machine guarding, mechanical power transmission systems, electrical safety, power and hand tools, working and walking surfaces, trip and fall hazards, ladders, scaffolds, and other personal climbing and elevated support devices, lock out and tag out procedures and so on.

Safety hazards of using compressed gases, flammable or combustible materials, and other hazardous chemicals are discussed in the "Chemicals and Materials" section.   The section "Prevention and Control of Hazards" summarizes how to work safely with different classes of chemicals.
